A/C clutch won't engage...voltage present at connector

I've been putting off fixing my A/C forever. I have a company car that I usually drive during the day, and I'm in upstate NY, so not having A/C hasn't been a huge deal, but I want to get it resolved.

Have swapped relays and have done HVAC diagnostics with no codes present. Was going to check the pressure switch, but decided to bypass that and just put my meter on the clutch connector which is located near the alternator. I'm getting a voltage that varies between ~ 11-13. Does this point to a bad field coil?

After reading up on those who have had issues with the coil, they were getting intermittent A/C. Mine just stopped working altogether one day, but I kind of remember it wasn't blowing all that cold in the weeks prior to quitting. However, if I did have a leak and the pressure dropped low enough, wouldn't the pressure switch kill the voltage and I wouldn't be seeing the 11-13 at the connector?

I can turn the clutch relatively easily by hand, so I don't think the compressor is binding at all. Also have not purchased gauges to check pressure.

Thanks for any input.

If you have 12 volts at the clutch and with a proper ground it doesn't engage it's bad. To be sure you can run a wire directly to the coil and when grounded, no engagement, it's bad.

I'm gonna run voltage to it this weekend and also run a second ground. Never know; it's not likely, but something could have happened to the ground wire.
