A/c

I can't seem to track down the issue I am having with my A/C. The levels are spot on but compressor clicks on and off constantly. It will come on for three seconds and blow cold for that three seconds then shut off and warm air starts coming out. It does this constantly if I try turning on the A/C. I am pulling my hair out. Any help or direction to look is greatly appreciated folks. The self diagnostic test did not show any issues either.

I think the only way it should kick off the compressor without throwing a code, is if the pressure is too high, too low, the evaporator gets too cold, or the outside temp falls too low.

But I could be wrong.

I was thinking pressure switch next so that may be my next step. Although, today was in the 60's so that could also explain why it would not want to stay on. I did an evac and recharge today so maybe it was too cold for the compressor to want to stay on.

Seems to be putting alot more load on the engine than it used to as well.

throw a set of manifold gauges on there and VERIFY that you pressures are right. A/C will function in defrost mode and you can force it on while in that mode.

also, did you throw a vacuum pump on there and pull and hold a vaccum for at least a few hours to verify that everything was evacuated from the system?

3 second cycle on and off typically means pressure too high

Please elaborate. I notice whether in Defrost, Cold or Heat it is putting alot more load on the engine. Windshield keeps wanting to haze over too.

the AC is used to remove moisture from the air and it will operate at anything above 31F outside.

turn on the defroster and then press the button turn the AC to the ON position I do not have a TL so I don't remember exactly how to do it on a 3rd gen. (last time I drive one was in 2008) On my 02 CL-S there os a mode button and one of the options is AC ON when you press it
