burning smell

burning smell

for the past two days, i have been getting a burning smell from the driver front side of my tire area. when i opened the hood it was coming more by the battery area, which would make sense because it is by the driver side tire. i dont know what it is, can someone help me out here

Porblems like this ussually always is from a plastic bag becoming melted onto the hot exhaust pipe somewhere under the car.

Since learning of this potential, I now fear running over plastic bags along the road.

No danger for you except for inhaling toxic fumes but it will go away once it all burns off by the hot exhaust pipe. No harm to you car either, you exhaust pipe will look pemenantly dirty with smth and but you can't see it so no worries. Search and you will find!

Please look under the car to see if you can see anything melted to the exhaust system. I would hate for it to be something serious such as an oil leak (which could potentially catch aflame).

yup i went to the dealer and they said that it was a plastic bag that melted on the exhaust pipe. i saw it and it was all bubbly and stuck on. they said the smell should be gone in a week. thank you guys for your help and concerns

yeah next time try to run over something like a deer. then you would only smell steak all day long.
