Burned by the lack of DRL or something more?

Hey all,

I just got my first TL a few weeks ago, and I love it so far. The lack of daytime running lights got me yesterday though. I went to my brother's house to watch the games, and left the keys in the ignition. I caught it a few hours later, and pulled the keys. The lights were out though. I thought nothing of it (I was kind of drunk) and went back inside.

Well, I ended up going out with a friend for hours. When I got back to the car, it was dead. *Very* dim interior lights, and just the starter relay clickin' when I tried to start it.

This AM it was still dead. I threw the charger on it for a while, and it started okay. It's still charging now. Could the lights have sucked the battery dry that quickly? The other peculiar thing is Mark (my brother) told me the passenger rear turn signal was blinking really fast and dimly last night. No idea what that is about.

Should I not worry and chalk this up to user error, or is something else possibly up? THANKS in advance!

The keys in the ignition is what did it.

Yeah, I know the lights don't shut off with the keys in the ignition. Would it have sucked the battery dry in just a few hours (at most) though? And what was the turn signal thing about?

I left my keys in the ignition over night. The battery was dead the next morning.

Charge up the battery, or buy a new one. Then check the rear turn signal to see if its still doing it.

The batteries (especially OEM) are shit. Get it charged to where you can get it to an AutoZone or similar and get the battery tested. I'm willing to bet you have a 2+ year old battery in there now and it is going to pasture.
The "hyperflash" may indicate a bad bulb---check all of them once you know you have good power.

Well, I'm at work now. Here till 6. I'm *hoping* the damn car starts then!

I checked all the lights, and everything seems fine. That hyperblink still has me a little concerned.

hyperblink usually happens when the other blinker on that side is burned out. so if the passenger rear light was blinking, then the passenger front is out.

I hope so! Thanks! I just went out to check, and the car started right up. So I'm guessing I can just chalk this up to a "stupidity kills" thing, huh? lol

Still curious about the fast blinking turn signal, however.

Not to mention our cars have all kind of power drain. If you dont start your car for 2-3 weeks, chances are itll be dead when you try, lol.
