Get one of the screw extractor/bolt extractor tools and go to town.

I use a drill and then an easy-out. But it depends on how big the bolt is. And if u have enough room to position the drill so that it goes straight into the bolt without hitting the threads. You have to use a smaller drill bit of course

I have the same issue @charmer37 but mine is in the license plate bolts. I bought a cheap $3 kit from Autozone, but haven't tried it out yet. Anyluck with another method?

if it is not crossthreaded a GOOD left hand drill bit will sometimes pull them out as you are drilling. a cheap left hand drill bit will not last long and get dull very quick and no way to sharpen them that i have found. a regular drill bit will do the same thing but it is going to try to screw it in farther untill the bolt bottoms out. if it is a big enough bolt i have had luck with a sharp air hammer bit and air hammer to get it started loosening then pliers or vise grips to finish it off.
