Broken axle?

Has anyone broken an axle? I couldn't find any posts about broken axles so I figured I would ask.
If anyone has, then what exactly broke? CV joint? How much power?

I broke an axle a while back launching at a traffic light in my 240whp 06 Base 5AT. It was the drivers side axle. Couldn't get the car into park unless j turned the car all the way off. Car would just freely roll down the street and made a buzzing noise from where the axle broke and was slapping metal.

Did you take any pics of the carnage?

Not sure, but I think the MT axles are stronger than the AT axles.

Thanks. Guess I didn't use the right search words. Those seem to be broken due to corrosion of the shaft though.
I'm trying to determine if I should have stronger axles to cope with the extra torque of a J37.
