Brembos + Duralast C-Max Gold users, little help please

I'm set on going with these, so I picked some up at Autozone. I have a great indie mechanic who is cool with my providing my own parts. Anyway, it was the last box in stock and I'm concerned that the box was opened and/or there may be stuff missing. There are four pads and a plastic bag of aluminum hardware (shims?). The pads look like they were handled with greasy hands and poorly wiped down, so I'm really leary of it. My spidey-sense is tingling that I'm missing something.

Anyone remember/know for sure?

Mine came with the replacement spring clips and I re used the factory shims as the new ones didn't come with any.

So how are these pads for the brembo brakes?

Worth buying or no?

Go to autozones web site. Find the part with part number. There's a picture of everything that it comes with. Why don't you do it yourself? The easiest pad change i ever did...

they are the SHIT!!!
they last a long time...AND...they dust about 1/8th of what the brembo's used to dust.

You can reuse the clips...
you can reuse the shims...
wipe the pads down and get the grease off the surface and you'll be good to go.

luder, not asking how easy the install is or how to find them online.. I'm curious if they're worth a shit or not.

rockstar, thanks for the input.

I do mostly commuting to and from work, but I do drive on twisty back roads on the weekends.

well, in comparison to brembos...zero dusting...
slightly less "bite" than the brembos but still stops just fine when you need to. I've been rocking them for 40K miles now and 2 years and have zero issues with them.

Also...lifetime warranty including wear...so I can go into autozone with my box and old pads and bam, they give me new ones.

My thoughts exactly...although I have only got about 3k miles on mine. Waaaaay less dust. It definitely takes a bit more pedal pressure, but the car stops just fine and dandy.

Mine came with the spring clips and the pad shims. I could have just re-used what was on the car, but went ahead and used the new stuff.

I ended up spending another 28 bucks for the Performance Friction Z-Rated Carbon Metallic Brake Pads. I'll let you guys know what I think after I scrub them in next week in the mountains

The new pads come with those rubber coated shims. I didnt reuse my factory pad shims.

The only other items in the box were a small packet of grease and two pad springs.

Spray the pads down with brake cleaner and you should be good to go.

No I got these online after reading a few reviews. If they're as good as people say they are I'll probably stick with them. Will definitely post a review.

the dusting, the stopping power, would be interesting to me, although...60 bucks for a lifetime of front pads is hard to pass up.

From what I've read, the Duramax pads have some clay fillers and such that may make them of less quality (wear faster) than that of other pads. One could argue that the lifetime warranty and new pads for free is worth it. For those who prefer a more superior stopping power (this is obviously subjective) and don't mind shelling out money for pads, the performance friction z-rated carbon metallic pads that I purchased for my car really have me impressed. These have no fillers that would make the pad wear quicker. They dust less than the OEM brake pads, are half the price and the bite is as just as hard (maybe harder).

I will definitely post in this thread if I have any issues with them.
