Brembo Brakes Upgrade?

Brembo Brakes Upgrade?
Hey, My brakes...Pads and Rotors, are coming to an end on my 07 TL S. I went to Acura and was not aware that these were not covered under warranty. (Which is Bullshit) but after brakes and installation it was estimated at 850$. NO THANKS. I was told by friend that I could get better and bigger for under 700$ which would be even better then the stock brembos... Does any one know the sizes and what would be good to upgrade to without putting a dent into my pockets??? Help lol.. Thanks guys

Stay with the stock size just go cross drilled and slotted
Rotora drilled and slotted rotors with some hawk ceramic pads with stainless steel brake lines will cost you about 700.
Contact Josh at Excelerate for an accurate price.

You don't have to spend that much. You can check out Excelerates website or mr heeltoe. You can get a set of slotted or cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads from Rotora (one of a few different mfg's) You would retain the stock size but i'm sure you would have plenty of braking power with this setup. Probably only cost you ~$325-350 shipped (for front brakes) of course they also do sell BBK's if that's what you really want.

I like slotted but not crossdrilled- see the many brake threads for reasons, if they were made to be drilled that one thing, but few are
Most drivers dont even need the side slots- they dont get the pads hot enough to be outgassing at high pressures
Rotora makes a good rotor and matched pad setup- depending on if you want less dust or more stopping power makes the pad choice
Brembo brake car already has ss lines iirc, anyone with a gen3 conform this?

no you can't buy larger diameter or thicker rotors,(that wouldnt make it brake better anyway) or change the calipers- you already have the good stuff
You can change the parts mentioned above, AND change out/flush(bleed) the brake fluid.
Supposed to start at year 3 and then every year forever
If you install new brake lines you have to bleed the system anyway
Paint the rear calipers black to make the whole system look matched

I drive relatively hard but not hard to be replacing brakes already. About 30,000 miles. I have owned the car for almost 2 years. Yes, I want to keep the stock calipers and just get upgraded brakes. I see the different opinions but I am not sure if you guys think I want like bigger brake pads I just want to keep whats there but upgrade the rotors and pads. I would be willing to pay about 4-600$ the most. What is good in this range with the stock parts already on? I need to change brake fluid if I get new brakes?

WHy would brakes be warranty unless there is a mechanical failure - stuck caliper for example? Brakes are a wear item - always have been, always will be.
In addition to the Rotora, from Excelerate, consider Racing Brake from Mr. HeelToe. Same cost or less and MUCH better than OE; 2-peice front rotor, slotted, high friction, low dust pads, SS Lines, etc.

I've got Racing Brake on my '02 and RB Pads on the way for the '07 - I like their product.

Roughly the same cost BUT you get a HUGE upgrade with:
- 2-Piece Slotted Rotor
- SS Brake lines
For the same price as the dealer is giving you for OE parts and labor. HUGE!! DIY the labor - it's easy. Still too much? No problem, check StopTech or Rotora slotted.
You cannot get "bigger pads" or bigger rotors and keep the stock calipers.
BTW - you did good to get 30k and 2-years. I got 20k miles. Others have had as low as 15k, a few over 30k miles, but not many.

Coming from Audi I had pads, rotors all covered under warranty. They used to give you 4years of free maintenance...basically all you pay for is gas and insurance.
Now they make you pay for the maint. package.

Ya. for 41,000 grand after sales tax I thought everything was covered! I love my car but little things like this drive me crazy. After 36,000 miles this car will be in the garbage can once that warranty is up. Lol Expect a for sale sign, but atleast it will have newer upgraded brakes! Thanks for the advice guys.

Does anyone read anymore? contracts spell out details
This is not an audi- why do we care about their old maitenance policy anyway?
Much as I love my racingbrake setup- for the average driver...rotora works fine too
Yes you all need to be changing the brake fluid this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I have read here= the gen3, once the gen2 trans issues were resolved and fixed on the 3s- is overall a solid reliable car.
Nothing more than basic maitenance and brakes- fluid changes--look at the miles these cars are racking up in 2-3 years!
its also a heavy car- driven fast, and braked hard
The stock pads are a major compromise of mom drives the car and wants no brake noise,, and the more spirited driver who will deal with brake dust in exchange for more aggressive stopping power

I'd be happy if they just didn't come back. 20-somethings are Freaking Expensive.
The stock Brembo (MT or TL-S) is already a "Big Brake Kit". But you can get a Bigger "Big Brake Kits". You have to replace the caliper as well as rotors and pads. May be some other parts required to retrofit.

Coming from a BMW, this was the only thing I missed from BMW. Wear & tear items are replaced under warranty...yet tires aren't considered were and tear. How unusual.
Within a 50k mile time frame, BMW replaced the brake pads and rotors twice for free. So I was spoiled. My TL-S has 22k miles on it, and I almost fainted when they said to replace the front brakes pads only will cost around $450.
I personally recommend OEM pads and just buy slotted rotors from a reputable company. Just don't let the dealers do any kind of maintenance work for your car. I find it unusual that some Acura dealers actually charge more then European car dealers for standard car maintenance.

Try www.placeforbrakes.com. Best brake components prices I've found on the net.
Just did my brakes using EBC OE replacement rotors and Monroe Ceramic pads. So far, so good.
