Break pads Squeaking!!

Recently purchase and installed new front rotors and Hawk's Performance Ceramic pads for my 07 type S. They have been screaming extremely loud when breaking at a slow speed. I tried bedding them, 6's really hard breaks and then drove it, and still same issue.

I can't really repeat this process since i find it difficult finding a road long enough or the highway being empty or somewhat.

Are there any other ceramic pads that DO NOT need bedding? that are good quality.

Also find it odd, that i installed this same pads before on my vehicle and didn't have this problem nor bedded them. But i did not change my rotors back then.

help is appreciated.

You're Not Alone...

I am also in the same situation tho i am using different brands (eline slotted rotors and Cmax pads) i also put new rotors with ceramic pads on my 6mt and have had spueaking/squealing under light breaking ever since. I have tried bedding in, used CRC break quiet, and even swapped for another set of ceramic pads thinking maybe i got a faulty batch and still the same loud squealing. So to maybe save you the headache of having to tear it apart 3 times now like i have trying different things, My only thought now (when i get time) is going back to the OEM Acura pads and hope thats the answer. I hate the dust but its better than the attention seeking squeal.

Some pads are just noisy... Hawk may have changed their compounds slightly. Although, I've never really understood why some ceramic pads make noise.

Which Hawk pads did you get? The HPS? or HPS+?

OP, did you grease the metal-2-metal contact points? I personally only had squeaking issues with the OEM pads. The CMAX pads have been silent for me.

Hawks can be pretty noisy in general. Did you grease the back of the pad where it contacts the piston? Should quiet it down a bit but those pads won't be silent.

I have found that the noise under light braking disappears when the brakes are pressed harder and therefore isn't a pad material problem. The pad(s) are actually moving ever so slightly within the caliper. I have found that the pads need to be secured properly with non worn hardware and backs of pads applied with CRC disc brake quiet.

I used the grease that came with the pads (pad's grease) on the back on the pads. Where the pads have contact with the pistons. Still get the noise, I did the bedding one last time this week (stayed up really late). Drove it towards the end of the week, and the noise doesn't happen when the break are cold or once I first driving it. But once they warm or 15 minutes driving the car, the noise comes back. It really frustrating, any one know of any other ceramic pads that don't squeak or are in need of bedding?

I purchased a set of EBC Redstuff pads a few months ago. They were fine for a month or two, but now they are constantly making a "chk chk chk chk' noise. It gets a little louder when braking. I was told its just because they're ceramic, but it is constant, even without braking.

maybe a warranty issue with the brakes. Look into that and maybe getting a new set

I just installed the Hawk Performance Ceramics on my car today and so far nice and quiet. These had great reviews on Amazon which is where I bought them. Wonder if it's anything to do with the new rotors, especially since you've used these pads before without any problems?

I've been having issues with mine, Hawk pads with RB rotors. the rotors I already had on the car I decided to get new pads. I got the $102 Hawk pads from HT. I tried 3 different types of caliper grease and I still get a noise just as bad as a train. This only happens after they get heated up and it's upon light braking. It's annoying to the point I don't wanna drive the car. People either look at me or roll up their windows when I stop next to them. I think I am going to get a different set of pads at this point. I have always used Hawk pads on all my other cars and this is the first on the TL and it sucks.

^which hawk pad are you using?

I had Hawk HPS on my Accord 6MT and they never made any noise. I'd have to imagine they'd be similar (if not the same) for the TL

I have Brembo rotors and pads. Work like a charm. Purchased through the Tire Rack.
