Brake Help

hello AZ -

I recently purchased a 2006 TL base with 5AT.

When I am braking from speeds of say 60mph my brake pedal feels like it is vibrating or something. It dosent really do it when im braking at low speeds.

Has anyone had this happen before? I did a search here and found some stuff on it possibly being warped rotors? Is that common?

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Could be warped rotors and/or pad material build up.

Kind of shimmys as you are braking to slow down? You feel it through the pedal, the steering wheel and the seat of your pants?

Still have the stock rotors? They do tend to warp. I had to upgrade mine. Do you brake hard?

im assuming they are the stock rotors i am the second owner of this vechile

i have to wait until tuesday to get a diagnosis on it, hopefully its just the rotors and nothing else becasue i dont feel like spending a fortune to get something fixed

then i can get new ones with A-Aspc pads (they fit on the standard non-brembo TL right?)

You seem a bit confused here.. take a look at your rotors. Do they look like someones been grinding a fork around them.. I'm assuming yes.. that means your rotors are warped and are probably eating your brake pads as well.

Get new rotors.. don't turn them / resurface them.. they'll just warp again but faster. Read up on proper braking to extend brake pad life and reduce rotor heat buildup. I suggest ceramic brake pads.. (DG Cmax, Hawks, etc).

Brakes are real easy (except for those damn retention screws) and definitely a DIY.. otherwise Acura will charge you about $1k for rotors & pads.. You'll probably need a BF change as well. There are several good DIY threads on the forum for brakes.

I just did mine like a week ago. New PowerSlot rotors, all 4 + all around GS6 ceramic-carbon brake pads.
All from tirerack.com
Brake pads part #s:
Front fitment - GS6D787
Rear fitment - GS6D536
Rotors part #s:
Front Left Fitment - 126.40046SL
Front Right Fitment - 126.40046SR
Rear Left Fitment - 126.40061SL
Rear Right Fitment - 126.40061SR
I love my brakes now !!! I already feel better stopping power, just after 500 miles or so. I don't see any difference in brake dust on those brake pads.

I would suggest this set up...

Great stopping power, no noise, and hardly any dust.

500 for parts.

I just got 05 TL and it always vibrake when I bkrake at around 60-80 mph. I found out one of lug nut on front passenger site missing. It also missing one of inner shim at the same wheel. Is that the reason for vibration. which contribute more missing shim or lug nut?
