I am having a 45K service performed on my 2008 TL-S and the dealer is replacing pads and discs in the front...
I have owned several high performance cars and never had to replace discs so soon...is this normal.???
Had a 2003 TL-S with 100K and did not replace the discs...

I'd say 45K is good to avg for OEM pad life. It's too early for needing new rotors. Sounds like the dealer is upselling unnecessary parts. Ask you dealer what the rotor thickness is. I'll bet they won't be able to give you an immediate answer because I'm sure they haven't even bothered to measure them. Service limit is 23mm.

All that PLUS they'll charge double what it "should" cost.

As the others said. Sounds early for disks and normal to late for pads.
As for the other "high performance cars" did they have 4 piston Brembo's ? Plenty of much nicer cars than the TL out there that have a more pedestrian braking system up front. Still shouldn't need disks yet though...

Brake life can vary widely and so can rotor life. For example, some folks only manage to get around 16 to 20,000 miles out of their pads on their front Brembo's. I have a neighbor who is getting close to 100,000 miles with the stock pads on his '05 manual TL. I know I can get around 60,000 miles on them.
I have over 79,000 miles on my '04 manual and there is VERY little wear on the front rotors (I check the ridge at the outermost and innermost edges for this). If they have not begun the work, take a careful look yourself and see how much meat is left on the rotors and what the contact surface looks like.
