So I bought this one:

I removed the old one and inserted this but the bulb or "wedge" wont fit into the plastic harness. It's too thick.

So before I return them, is there a way to make the fit?
can I remove that grey plastic cover that looks like it is screwed on to the back of the trunk hood right behind the light opening?

If not, do you know if other places within the car I could use it and fit well??

They fit perfectly. I'm very satisfied with the output, the color temperature, and the backup camera visibility.

 

Its a tight fit but it'll fit, i bought mine from the same site for the license plate and it was also a tight fit but to be honest i like that it was that way... makes me feel like its not gonna come loose anytime soon and its secure.
