I accidentally touched both negative and positive wires together (while the engine/lights were on) on the passenger heated seat bulb

I had the console open, and was popping in the replacement bulb when I caused this short.

Now:
- power steering stopped working
- radio/console/shifter lights are all out
- rear parking lights are all out

Is there a relay that controls all this? Or did I blow out all these fuses individually?

 

Check all the fuses by the drivers kick panel

 

Also don't do that ever again

 

Fuses seem easy to blow out on this car. There is also a fuse box in the engine bay you can check. You can quickly swap the relay with a known working relay to test those. You can use a multi meter to check fuses which you are suspecting but look ok. Sometimes the crack in the fuse is gery small and hard to see. Usually it is very obvious.

One other thing is you can bump up a fuse to a higher amp but in this case I would only replace the fuses with exact replacements. There are one each extra of each fuse under the hood in the fuse box labeled with an X. Good luck.

 

Does Acura use fusible links in the wiring harness? I recall older cars using these in major portions of the looms to prevent fires.

 

I found out it was the "small lights" fuse (15 amp) under the hood that blew. Apparently this fuse controls the rear exterior lights and dash / console light.
The check engine symbol that lit up on the instrument cluster is also gone.
