Blown Engine! HELP!
hey fellow azine experts,
I was driving my stock 2005 3G TL only a few modifications such as full aspec-kit, mid-muffler delete w/ dynomax resonator. I had done an oil change at 56339 miles and changed spark plugs, and engine air filter. Changed out 3&4th pressure switches and transmission @52,690. I was driving Grand Central Prkway in Queens, NY when all of a sudden a loud pop from the engine bay went off and Check Engine light flashed a few times and engine started shaking uncontrollably. Turned the car off and back on and shaking continued and making a harsh loud nasty noise from the engine and can be heard real loud from the outside. I reversed it into a side spot on a regular street to there was a trail of dark brownish oil on the ground. I parked the car there for a whole day and went back the next to get it towed to my friend's nissan dealership when he can take a look at the car for me on his own time. He did inform me with bad news that my engine was blown and it messed up the oil pan and do not know the initial cause of what part of the engine started this disaster. I bought this car from a 2nd party and warranty is done with the car. He purchased it new in 04 and I was wondering is there a 7year/100k mi warranty will cover this horrible disaster of the engine. If anybody know more about this and had gone through anything similar, please help me and give me any advice that I can take further into saving this TL or parting it. My first car and only car in the family and I am going crazy on figuring out what is the best option in dealing with this situation.

This will not be a warranty situation. (and I'm not totally sure I follow the 7year/100K you mentioned) Get the wallet out........

3 months ago, your engine was hydrolocked and an attempt to start it again by force... which is very bad news. Could this be related?

It's time for a compression check. It's possible you bent a rod which lowers the compression ratio. Lack of compression shows up most at idle and as a misfire. If this is the case, odds are the engine will commit suicide eventually. If you have one turn up low, I would start saving my money.
yeah man D ck WEED is what they call me. Getting a used engine put in hopefully I can run with that for awhile or maybe just move on to the next. Until then.. ENJOY FAMILY TIME AND THEM TURKEYS EVERYBODY!

You might be able to find a reasonable engine for less than 800.There was a J35 on my local craigslist for 450 with reman'd heads.. So keep a look out. You also might want to talk to your insurance.. if you're fully covered, they might cover it.

Doubtful you can simply change the mileage. Imagine all the fraud if people could just do that. If it's possible it's something the dealer may need to do and i bet there's all sorts of paperwork involved.
You can't reset the computer. When you buy the used engine, have the salvage yard write the mileage of the car from which it was removed on the bill of sale. Keep that with your other papers. A good engine should run about a grand or less. Labor to install it might be another grand. In the years I was a mechanic, I replaced many engines, most in a day or less. I haven't done an Acura change so I don't know if the engine is removed from above or below. That would make a big difference in the labor costs. Start with a good service manual. Good luck. Hy
