Battery randomly dying and coming back

Alright so the last couple of days my TL has been acting REALLY weird ... for example this morning when I went to work my car turned on perfectly fine and there was no problem ... however when I got outta work I unlocked my car and tried turning it on ... as soon as I tried to crank it the car completely died ... everytime when I opened and closed my door power would come back and as soon as I would try to crank the car it would die again ... after continuously opening and closing the door 15-20 times I got lucky once and was able to turn on my car without losing power ... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON! ... PLEASE HELP ME ..

What years your car? Find out if the battery is still the factory one and if you still have warranty go get a new one! Other than your situation though, someone with expertise will chime in and help ya! GL

Yep, I'd check those connections. I had the same thing happen to me after installing a Diehard battery....Stopped to get gas about 2 weeks after replacing the battery and car wouldn't start back up. Pop the hood and sure enough, the pos cable had come loose. I really had to crank it down as the Diehard terminals seem to be narrower than the stock terminals. Haven't had a problem since.

YEP!!! My car has been doing the same thing. It is the immobilizer kicking in as the battery does not have a good connection. To know for sure, after it dies abruptly, take the key out of the ignition and press the door lock and unlock on the key fob. (Make sure all your doors are closed.) Your power should restore itself. I just replaced my battery and have been having the IDENTICAL same issue. I took the connection that was loose off and squeezed it with some pliers so it was tighter to get back on the post. Haven't had an issue since. I think it has to do with the major change in temp between cold mornings and hot engine bays after you get to your destination. Good luck.

as said- check connections and take it to a parts store for free testing of the entire system
If its not charging properly a trip to work can kill it, or a bad cell inside can prevent it from charging
Optimas were having a problem a few years ago with that plate issue,,may be one of those...see: warranty~ several ziners had bad units

Don't just check the connections ... clean them.. both the battery and the cable ends. Eventho they look cleanthere might be a film on the negative side which will give you intermittant starting problems but the rest of the electrical may seem ok.

I any event don't rule out the simple fix ... and let us know the solution.

I hate threads where one seeks advise but never comes back and let us know what the solution was.

sorry about not replying quickly and thank you everyone for the advise ... it looks like the fix was simply just getting the battery terminals on tighter ... i also made sure the battery was still good and the terminals were clean ... thanks again
