Battery Light is on but everything is normal

I just bought my 07 tl type s. My battery light came on last night while i was driving. Went to advance auto today to get the battery and alternator checked the they both came back normal. Does anybody have an idea as to what the problem could be? Ive never experienced anything like this with my Infiniti or Lexus. Any help would be appreciated.

I would assume alternator, to be honest. I thought that's the only thing that light is linked to (well the battery too, but those symptoms are more obvious). Many moons ago my alternator crapped out on one of my civics, but it still drove fine for a few days until the battery was drained. Replaced the alternator and all was good.

Might be worth checking all the wires leading to the battery and alternator.

Honestly.. I can't perosnally place my weight on those tests. I remember multiple times I've had my crap "tested" but ultimately, replacing the 'working' part fixed the problem

Take it with a grain of salt.

Being an 8 year old car, I would replace the alt anyway. Somethings should be fixed before they break. An alternator falls into this catergory.

battery lights do not come on for no reason. you can do a very simple test yourself. plug in a OBD2 scanner and monitor the battery voltage if it dips much below 13.5, you got issues

some time your alternator will take a break from working between now and then, its possible that the alternator is working during the test, therefore you can see it working as normal but when its stop working you will feel some power lost through acceleration.

worst advice ever,

that's like saying "being a 8 year old car, I would replace the engine anyways"

TL alternator are not cheap and proper troubleshooting needs to be done.

OP troubleshoot the issue. you can buy a BT OBD2 scanner on amazon or Ebay for $12 including phone software, then use it to monitor your batt voltage. It is staying constant, check the Electrical Load Detector.
