Battery Draining Insanely Quick

Hey guys,

I've been having issues with my battery lately. Since I've gotten back to school, my battery has drained completely three times in the span of 2-3 days between uses. My old battery was able to be jumped once, but when we tried again we couldn't get it to start. We figured it was just the battery had finally given out (I've only had the car for about a year now, but it looked pretty old), so I bought a new one and popped it in. Good to go. Fast forward two or three weeks from that point, and it's dead again. So dead this time, that the security alarm goes off whenever you try to jump it. I'm thinking it's one of two things: either the HFL (hopefully this) or the alternator. Alternator doesn't really make sense since I've had no issues electrically while driving the car. Just wanted to see if someone could confirm my suspicions for me. Thanks!

Disconnect HFL, it's like the primary cause. Then see.

Thanks guys I will check that out tomorrow. Is there anyway to stop my alarm from going off while recharging the battery? Also, do you know how much it costs to replace the HFL?

Also, is it possible to put a different Bluetooth module up there that would allow for Bluetooth audio as well as calling?

Still wouldn't hurt to check you alternator as well. How often do you drive your car, daily? Do you have to jump it multiple times in a day? How long do you usually drive for? Maybe your alternator is not putting enough charge back into your battery.

To replace the HFL costs a couple hundred, its listed on acura parts site, be aware there is a core charge that will be refunded when you send the old one back.

There is not an option to put another bluetooth module up there unless you install an aftermarket one.

That could be. I only drive about a mile or two a day while I'm on campus. I'll start with the HFL and I'll have my shop check out the alternator for me next time I'm there.

Gotcha. I've found Bluetooth modules that cost less and do more than the stock one so I'll probably just remove the HFL and put in one of the aftermarket ones.

Check out the USA Spec BT45-Hon3 module, people have have said good things about it, I believe that model would be for your car.

That was the one I was going to go with. I originally went with a GROM Audio module but that failed twice so I don't recommend it.
