Thumbs down Base A-Spec rear skirt gaps problem

Just installed the A-spec kit on my car, i have a problem with the rear one... its not sticking on the sides where the double sided tape is... took it back to my mechanic and he added 1 inch wide tape there.... its better, but still not closing the gap.

I'm afraid dirt, snow, salt will accumulate there.

Any tricks to fix that? Crazy glue?

(btw, is it me or is the rear base a-spec skirt... ugly? )

i wouldn't say the base a-spec rear is ugly, but it might not look matching with your aggressive Type-S A-Spec front lip, and the Type-S stock sideskirts.

You have a mix going on with your car.

As for getting it to stick, I don't think mine stick on the sides anymore, but it just hugs the bumper like a glove, and the brackets behind the rear wheel hold it up high.

do you have any pictures of the gap?

well maybe "ugly" is a bit strong... but I feel the mufflers now stick to far inside...

Anyhow, here's the pics of the gaps. They are on each side

I don't know what your mechanic used, but head to Canadian tire and buy 3M Automotive strength molding/mounting tape and make sure the area is cleaned well to ensure proper adhesion. If it's dirty and dusty, the 3M tape won't stick.

It will close up that small gap easily. Make sure you apply the tape along the very top of the A-Spec lip.

a rub down of isopropyl acohol will clean up the area just nice and promote adhesion !

kit wasn't mounted properly, it's a tad to low (it should be level with the edge of the 1/4 panel). Remove the tape, clean the area and reapply 3M Tape 2-3 inches wide. Use the good tape that'll hold over 50 lbs!

You can get an exhaust shop to cut the tips off (or you can do it yourself) and just clamp on a pipe extension that's about an inch long. Many folks have done it here to fix the issue you have.

Ok the exhaust is sunk in. I agree you may need to get an exhaust shop to fix it. Maybe you can find some Socal tips and weld those on while you are at it?

if stock exhaust and stock kit, it should be a spot on exact fit.

i personally think aspec kit is installed incorrectly, making exhaust tips seem like they are sunk in.

It is, the kit is angled so it's not sitting right where it attaches at the wheel-wells. It's dropped by 1/4 inch by the wheel-well from where it should be

I had the same gap issue. We just worked it far enough back to "3M that sum bitch" some more...

I also have the same exhaust tip issue. Mine look sunk in, too. I'll be doing new quad tips very soon to solve that issue.
