Is it the ballast??

I have an 05 TL. Pass headlight went out. Then 2 days later was working again. So I assumed it wasn't the ballast bc it's now working. So I ordered 2 igniters and switched both sides to be safe. And while I was at it through in the osram cbi bulbs. So I test both sides and they work fine. Put it all back together go to leave and passenger side is out again. It works when it feels like. Common sense would say its the ballast bc I replaced the bulbs and igniter and that's all that's left to replace. But aren't ballast either good or bad? They either work or dont right? Any thoughts guys?? Thanks!!

You could switch around the ballasts to see if the same side still goes out, if the other side is now not functioning then you can assume it's the ballast. If the same side still goes out after you swap ballasts then you may need to check wiring, maybe something is loose?

I don't think anything is loose. I was just in there. Plus when the light is on it stays on. It's when I turn it off and then try to turn it back nowhere the problem is. Just seems weird that's all. Dunno what else it could be

That's what my ballast did when it went out. The bulb would shine for a few minutes, then flicker and go out. Buy a new one.

When it's on it stays on. Doesn't turn off. But I've narrowed it down to when the lights have been on For a while and I turn them off. Then try to turn it back on it doesn't come on. I think it malfunctions when it gets hot. And it's not the bulbs or ballast bc they are new

I ordered d2s converter cables and am going to run aftermarket ballasts. I'm not wasting time or money messing with the oem ballasts
