Bad morning today....dead battery :(

So I started a new job today. I woke up, got ready for work and left about an hour early for work, new commute is gonna be about 45 minute drive but I don't really mind cause long drives don't bother me. (Old work commute was about 5 minutes away ) Anyway I started my 05 TL and it hesitated a little bit but I figured it was cause it was a really cold morning today, it was about 40 degrees here this morning, normally its in the 60s....I get to work and I arrive about 30 minutes early so I decide to turn around and go down the street (about a mile) to the starbucks nearby. I go in, get coffee and when I get back to my car and try to start my car........DEAD BATTERY So now I'm like FCUK!! cause its about 15 minutes before I am supposed to be at work....

to be continued.....

call up acura roadside and they'll give you a jump for now, or you can wait for a tow, get towed to the dealership, where they'll probably give you a new battery. its known that these batteries suck and as soon as its a year over, its going to start going downhill.

i suggest you don't to save money. These batteries have a 3 year warranty on them. 2 year free replacement and 3rd year proration. Look at it this way, free 150 dollar battery in exchange for 125 dollars from missed work, or 200 dollar battery in exchange for making 125...

So do batteries die that fast?

Yesterday I could tell my car was starting to hesitate on the start up and today it REALLY struggled. Hasnt been to terribly cold up here yet and this has only been going on for a day or two.

thanks.

It's a known problem that these batteries are not the best. I traded a TSX in for my TL-S and before driving off the lot exchanged batteries. I had a Optima Yellow Top in the TSX and now in the TL-S. No issues.......

So the next question... I'm a TL newb... go with an Acura battery or hit a local tire kingdom or something like that?

I wouldn't get the "Acura" battery unless the dealer is going to give you a substantial discount. When the battery in my 04 died (just a couple months before the lease ran out - go figure) I went with a Diehard Gold - about $110 but I had to pay regular price. We got 5 years out of this same battery in our 2001 T&C minivan. Plus, Sears stores are everywhere and stand behind their products. Just my .02.

as bad as an OEM battery may be, nothing beats free. have them replace it.

OK yet another question:

The battery origionally was replaced at 24k miles.... I only have 56k. Acura wont replace it. Not really just a question just a complaint.

I just got a new battery from the dealer last week and they have changed there battery. The one they have now no longer has the green window to see if it has a charge. It is sealed and it has a much longer warranty.

The dealer said, the old battery to the new one was night and day and he was right. OEM FTW!!!!

Also heat kills a battery, not cold weather. Hotter climate shortens the life span.

I ended up just going to Autozone, I asked about the optima yellow top but they only had the optima red top or something. I ended up just buying the gold top, its the best battery they have before the optima one, it was $96 with tax and everything. I was going to try my local dealer but they don't really like me cause I used to work there (for only one week) but I had to quit cause I got a waaay better job, the service manager really liked me as an employee but she got mad cause I quit and on top of that I told the service manager off a couple months later cause they broke my switchblade key and did not want to make a nw one for me I pretty much demanded they make a new one and they did end up doing it after several trips to the dealer so anyway I decided to not even try the Acura dealership, my car is almost 3 years old to be exact, bought it brand new 10/22/05 so I didn't think they would give me free battery, didnt even want to waste the time or energy.

my oem battery failed after 10 months...they gave me a new one and its different then the one that came in the car....it also has a 100 month warranty right on the battery, so if it dies before the next 7 years i would think i get a new one...but i doubt i will have the car much longer than another 2-3 years....
