Back left caliper seizing
Hello forum gurus
I had a question. I'm currently at the dealership. My warranty has covered an issue with my back left caliper where it was seizing.
Warranty has covered, Back left brake pad, rotor, and caliper.
The dealership has told me that I need to resurface the right rear as well. They also recommend resurfacing the front due to "vibration", but I never really had much of an issue with the fronts. I figured those could wait.
My question is, do I need the right rear resurfaced just because they are replacing the left rear? In my mind, it seems correct, but I figured I'd double check anyway.
Thanks!

Depends on the condition of the right rotor. If clean and not scored, I'd just rough it up and install new pads. Got to make certain that if they do cut the rotor, it isn't under the factory minimun thickness, as not too much can be removed before it falls under spec.
As far as the fronts, if no vibration noticed, let it go.

You do not usually need to resurface unless they are warped or cut. If they are warped, then you just need to get some new rotors anyway becuase they will warp again faster with less metal.
Most of the time, the resurface is a nice upsell from the dealer/shop.

I am suprised the dealer is covering any brake job under warranty as brakes are not part of warranty unless there is a recall. Good for you if you are getting it done but they might be trying to get some money back by getting other stuff done. If the rotor looks good no scorring then it wouldn't need resurfacing anyways resurfacing shouldn't be more than 30 dollars anyways.

Dealership gets paid for warranty work by Acura. Acura sets a flat-rate time. The dealership makes money on warranty work by completing the work faster than the flat-rate time.

I should point out that this was an aftermarket warranty through my lender called "Mercury Insurance" and not the Acura warranty.
I'm at 92k miles and so, I'm just glad to be under the 100k mark and that they took care of it.
unfortunately, I'm still in a loaner because whoever was working on my car Dented it and physically cut into the side molding near the back left wheel. How that happened ... I have no idea...
Fortunately, when I pointed it out, the dealer said they'd take care of painting it and if paint didn't come out 100% perfect, they'd replace the body part.
So now, I wait. I thought I was going to have it today ... it looks like it might be tomorrow. Will update with more information later.
Thank you all for your helpful posts. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see them in time (computer died), so I spent 80 dollars for the new brake pads in the rear-right and a resurfacing.
