Axle install nightmare, won't go all the way in!!

Hey folks, I could really use some advice. So I jack up the car, take off the wheel, axle nut, hub, steering arm and get the old axle out. I put the new one in as far as I can go, I'm talking brute strength, really really hard, it snaps in. Put everything back and go for a drive just to find transmission fluid everywhere! It seems that it can go in more but no matter how many times I take it out and put it back in, it doesn't go all the way in. I spent 4 hours trying to fix it and now it's just sitting there because it's dark. Could anyone pleaseeeeee shed some light on how to pop it all the way in. This is the driver side axle that goes directly into the transmission. Thank you.

Pull it back out & compare it with the old one, usually when it snaps in place it's all the way in, most of the time I have to use a hammer lightly to get it completely seated.

Did you match up the new axle with the old one? Are you certain it is the correct part? Check length and shaft end diameters. Spline count etc.

Did you check to see if the seal on the transmission is intact. The inner shaft end goes through a seal in the transmission body, perhaps you damaged it on taking our or installing the new shaft.

I've done many of these on a variety of Honda products. Never had to force anything, the inner shaft just clicks in.

Not sure how they are in TL's but in my old Nissan there was a ring at the end of the axle. If that ring isnt snug it gets caught. You just have to have patience and play with it.

Brought it to a shop, he wacked it in with a hammer, now no leaks and drives ok, still vibrations tho.

Does the new axle have the dynamic dampener on the shaft? Looks like a rubber doughnut on the shaft between the boots.

I'm interested in the outcome of this since I'm toying with the idea of doing my passenger side axle.

I would have recomended doing the same thing or slide it back and fourth until it slides in. There is a compression clip at the end of the axle that requires a little force to snap in place.

Got the axle from advanced auto parts. I got both for like $111 after googling discount codes to use for an online purchase then pickup in store. They are made my gsp and does not have the rubber balancer on the axles. My vibrations were due to two bent wheels on the passenger side, now that I got replacements it's much much smoother but the vibration is still there, slightly. Rather annoying.

I have a vibration during acceleration. My clutch was replaced by the previous owner. My guess is the balancer fell off the axle or it was damaged somehow.

Feels wierd to me anyhow since the wrong wheels are doing the driving.

What do you mean wrong wheels are doing the driving? The balancer can't just fall off the axle, it's a rubber mount with a metal ring that's thick it wraps in middle of the axle.

Front wheel drive=wrong wheels you get torque steer and other aspects that are non existant in an NSX which uses the correct wheels to drive the car

No idea, I have never climbed under there and looked. Usually on honda's it just a rubber balancer. The rubber can rot out or get knocked off.
