Auto trans shifting?

Hi guys. Just bought a 05 TL, auto. Love the car. Has 102k miles on it. In my opinion the car shifts a bit odd. Every gear shift after 1-2 almost makes me nauseated. It shifts smooth and doesn't slip. ATF was changed religiously throughout it's life with DW1 and Z1. But when the car is shifting, it feels like someone grabs a hold of my car from the back bumper and holds it for like half a second. Gives me that weird feeling like when you land in an airplane. Is that how these cars shift?

That's exactly the opposite of a shift smooth lol. Do the pressure switches as soon as possible and hope for the best.

OP

Change the trans fluid until it's clean... 3x3.

Replace the trans filter.

1. Try replacing the Pressure Control Solenoids A/B assy, & gasket. Clean the screen at the bottom of the three pipes & replace the 3 O-rings.

Additional parts if needed...

2. Main shaft speed sensor.

3. Counter shaft speed sensor.

4. ATF temp sensor.

Hey! Thanks so much for the suggestions! So I have done the 3x3 and the pressure switches. Shifts are way quicker but still a little off. What would be the cost of doing the solenoids at the dealer? I'm not a car dude. Main shaft speed sensor? Does that tell the trans or ECU (not sure which) how fast I'm going? Why would I replace that? Thanks so much again

If your trans is still missing shifts in all gears then replace Item #1 with oem solenoid.

No need to bring it to the dealership. Your regular mechanic can do or any repair shop.

Replace the trans filter with an aftermarket part.

Don't worry about the sensors for now.

Show the mechanic this...

Replace parts # 6, 9, & 18 (3).

# 7 is the filter & # 21 the O-ring... (aftermarket).

you do not need to replace the solenoid pack, just remove them, clean the screens and reinstall

02 TLs here but your car's transmission is nearly identical
