asap, please look

So I was just driving home on the interstate from school, and I was cruising at about 65 and it is raining, so i am going up a hill and just to maintain my speed, i obviously give it a little more gas, well my car decides to drop into third gear and just spins, i realize my tires on my stock wheels suck (fuzions) and im like okay, shit this sucks and let off the gas. My car decides to stay in third gear and i switched it to Sport tronic and tried to shift that way, still no luck. So at this point, i am going about 45 (not too high of RPM) and i had my flashers on to let other motorists know something was up. I get off the side of the high way onto the shoulder and come to a complete stop. I turn my car off and let it sit for about a minute. turn it back on, cranks fine and everything and i pull back onto the high way and everything is good.
I was in third gear for probably about half a mile or so to see if it would change gears on its own and it did not. So i guess my question is, is this the beginning of a bad transmission?

On my way to work i drive almost 1 mile going downhill on a 45mph highway. My TL stays in third and keeps a constant speed of 45mph. If i switch to triptonic i can change it to 4th but as soon as you start braking it downshifts to third again.
Its normal

I wonder if this is the 3rd gear problem that some people have. Do you know if your car was in for the 3rd gear TSB? Check this out:

I remember hearing about this from other people on the forum. Like where the car down shifts when you accelerate quickly, then stays in gear unless the car's turned off. Try looking it up? I don't recall anything major happening though, so I wouldnt really worry about it unless it occurs constantly.

Do you recall if your gears downshifted to 1 when you came to a complete stop?

yes, this is the first time it has happened. I tried searching and nothing came up as to what i was looking for.

And yes it still switched at 10 MPH from 3rd to 1st like itnormally does, that is what is weird. it is actin all crazy and shit and then normal?

Something went wrong with gradelogic, thier's nothing wrong with your tranny, maybe a computer glitch with it. If it was your tranny then turning your car off would have nothing to do with it, unless the same thing happend again. If this happens again i would go to acura just for a checkup.

im not sure if this applies to the 3G but the 2G has a clock fuse that backs up the cars memory, if the 3G has it, pull it out for a minute or so then replace it and the car will re-adapt to your driving habits. good luck, hopefully its not your tranny

It has happened to several people here and always has to do with spinning tires. I spun the tires through 1st and 2nd (or third, can't remember) gear in the rain and it was spinning in second (or third) for a long time. When I let off, it stayed in that gear, wouldn't go to any other gear until I shut it off. That was 20,000 miles ago and it hasn't had a problem since.

its a glitch with the VSA system, or maybe its purposely done like that to provide extra engine braking. Whatever the case, it happens to tl's very, very seldomly.

definitely a glitch is vsa and our grade logic sucks. Tl is very random and does this oftenly.
