Angry Anyone With A White Tl..(need Help)

I Have A White 06' Tl And The It Looks Like The Front And Back Bumpers Don't Match The Paint On The Rest Of The Car. Does Anyone Else Have This Issue, Or Have Had This Issue With The White Color? I Know They Say It's Hard To Get Plastic To Look Like The Metal Paint, But Should There Be A Noticable Difference? Thank You All In Advance For The Help With This Problem.

Unfortunately this is a known issue with Acura and the TL, especially with WDP. I have the Anthracite and at certain angles and lighting, the color variation is noticeable. Not much you can do about it except to get it repainted and blended to match.

Yep....do a search....you will find much info on this topic! BTW..welcome to the forum! I also have the same color and see the same thing...not sure its worth messing with though. Shows different in different lighting situations too...some people have gotten Acura to repaint and some got refused as I recall...either way...its a toss up what either will look like way down the road after exposure.

same here. WDP 04. I notice very slight difference with color on back bumper. But with me it's also based on the lighting.

I had the problem on my 04 WDP. My dealer had to get approval from the district manager to repaint the bumper and its much better now...

Just do what I did and park your new '06 white TL in an unsafe spot at the bank and some jerk will hit your bumper like mine when it's a week old and you can get it repainted! hehe

Seriously though, I know it's an issue for some folks and if I look at it closely, I mean VERY closely I can see a slight different but it's so minor I would have probably never noticed if I didn't spend way too much time on these forums!

I second that! I have to bite my tongue (fingers?) alot, after reading some of the complaints that people here have. The paint one gets me most I think because everyone complaining had an opportunity to inspect the paint before they purchased the car. If you didnt, is that Acura's fault? Then, Acura and dealer are assholes because they dont want to paint on the car. And why would they? All that does is create a potential can of worms for down the road.

Is the paint defective? I dont think so and neither should Acura IMO. I wouldnt want them painting on my car anyway. If I didnt like the paint match, I wouldnt have bought the car in the first place.

It really blows me away that this comes up so often and that it is always that Acura quality sucks so bad. Some of you wouldnt be happy with any car...

I would like to correct you on a couple of thing's, first off "The paint one gets me most I think because everyone complaining had an opportunity to inspect the paint before they purchased the car" your absolutley correct, but I had to order this car because the dealer didn't have what i wanted. So when i went to pick it up it was late at night and i didn't notice anything wrong with the paint. So like some people say "your shit out of luck"

Second, your comment "Some of you wouldnt be happy with any car" i have to say that your completely incorrect here, I love my TL. And something I'm sure your aware of, are these cars are not cheap, so I would expect that there wouldn't be any stupid inperfections like this one. I work very hard for my two cars and I'm sorry if I'm picky about them, but I have over 80k in automobiles sitting in my garage and I expect to have some quality for that type of money.

I'm not trying to personally insult anyone in this forum over this issue but you cant take it how you want it. Did the dealer tell you you could only take delivery late at night? You should have done a thorough inspection at some point before buying it, especially since it was ordered. The "problem" here is that you should have looked at it before signing over $35K.

To call it a problem, issue or whatever that Acura should pay (yes, they pay the bill at the dealer if they paint on your car and call it warranty) to repaint your car is simply bs. It is exactly the way the car was when you purchased it, just like everyone else that is whining about WDP here. Now, if something has changed, faded or whatever, maybe there is some "problem". I am not hearing that here.

Why all the grief over something so slight, that could have been prevented by a thorough inspection of something you were going to pay thousands of dollars for?

And just which make/model is perfect? Lexus? BMW? Go ahead, spend some real money and tell me which car you could buy that would guarantee perfection? Go to their forums and you will find that the same type of people buy those cars too! and not all of them are happy as clams... Meaning no offense to anyone particular, just that you have to take what you read in this forum with a grain of salt most of the time, especially when it involves complaints or comments about quality.

Now everyone level with each other...you didnt even notice a problem until you read about it here, right? I am thinking that every time I read a post about WDP...

Well I just wanted to say thank you for your great involement with this site, and your help you bring to the table. But as you say "Go ahead, spend some real money" I guess I should have. But oh wait, how many people at 26 own their own 06' Acura, and a 06' Lexus? I think I have already spent some real money on my cars...!! As for not noticing the problem until I was on this site, Did you not realize I was the one that started this original post. I noticed the issue the very next day. Well again, thank you for all of your much needed help in this site.

how else could I help but to say live with it? you really dont want anyone painting on your car now. and did you learn anything on this? like how to inspect what you are buying before pulling the trigger? search for WDP paint problems and you will find this is one of the most beat to death issues on this board. and it's always the dealer that's an asshole or Acura's quality control sucks...like they are the only ones that rip off the consumer by taking all that money and providing a piece of shit car. there was a thread opened just like this one 3 days prior to your message. it is already 2 pages long. you should have just chimed in on that one and then you wouldnt feel like I was just picking on you...sorry

Every single WDP has this problem.. so just joint the club. For some reason all other manufacturers can match white to 99% but Acura can only do it to 90%.. don't get it.

I would guess 90% is too high...every one I have seen has the color mis-match...and if you get the A-spec body kit think of your car as tri-colored...you are standing out in a crowd without even trying
