Anyone have their tranny crap out?
Last night im foolin around with a type s on the parkway when I notice my tranny wasnt shifting into 4th gear while in auto. I put it in "manual mode" and it still wouldnt upshift. The revs where just sitting up around 6k.
This happened once before and I knew that it would correct itself once I slowed down drastically so there I go slowing down to about 20 mph on the parkway and it fixed itself.
What is it?

u got trans problems you need to see the dealer but racing the car like that isn't going to help you make the trans live longer

Area on my XM
Damn... I hate these threads. None of these cars should be having issues with transmissions with the kind of miles most of them have when it is reported.

Ive had a problem like this. Read a thread I made to see the problem I had (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/weird-possible-transmission-problem-614981/). I never followed up on the forums. heres a picture of what they gave me.
Hope it helps

If you had no yellow lights on the dash (cel, etc.) and it happened just once, I would not worry.
The trans will do something crazy once in a blue moon.
There have been a few posts on the forum similar to your issue. But, those posts were when the person was using sport shift mode.
Once, mine bounced off of the rev limiter because the trans did not shift soon enough during the 2-3 shift. I was in full auto mode, not sport shift mode. After bouncing off of the rev limiter for a second, the trans eventually shifted on it's own (with no corrective action on my part). It only happened that one time to me.
The following is my personal rule-of-thumb for anything mechanical. If it happens once, ignore it. If it happens again, investigate.

alright man, i am gonna try to explain best I can
1. It is not normal for a transmission to refuse to upshift when WOT unless there is something WRONG with the transmission. Since the COMPUTER controls the transmission, it would have told it to shift to the next gear once it reached redline (WOT shift point)
2. If the problem was ELECTRICAL the ECM should have set a code for the circuit that failed, but it did not. This leads me to believe that the problem is MECHANICAL and outside of detecting abmormal system pressures or other electrical problems, the ECM is unable to diag mechanical problems. IE your car can slam into gear all day long and you will never set a code.....
3. Even if you are in SS mode, on your car it will upshift to the next higher gear when you hit the rev limiter 2 times in a row. This did not happen so again it points to a MECHANICAL problem with the transmission.
Your best bet is to take it to Acura and see if any soft codes are set for the transmission (most hand helds cannot read transaxle codes) and to see what they say about car refusing to shift WOT......
