Anyone else have a problem with the leather on the stearing wheel?

I drive mostly with my right hand and i place it at 12 o clock on the wheel. When i turn i just move that hand and never use my left hand. The leather at 12 o clock is starting to wear away and I can see the differance. Anyone else have this problem and should this be happening already? Its a 04. Its uncomfortable to me to drive any other way. Should i tell the dealer about it?

probably it usually wears in every Honda/Acura I ever owned but usually around 100K mark, check to see if they will replace it.

Don't know how to help with the wear problem but would strongly advise against driving with your hand at 12 o'clock. If your air bag deploys your hand is going to come back into your face resulting in broken bones and, if you wear a ring, likely cut flesh. Hands should be at 9 & 3 using the shuffle steering method to keep the hands on the outside of the wheel and not crossing over the air bag.

I'm having the same issue.

The leather on mine is worn out at 12, 9/3 5/7.

The steering wheel looks so cheap.

I have an 04 murano with the same kms on it (30k kms.) and the wheel looks mint.

Do you think they will replace it or give me some BS story about wear and tear.

At 48,000 miles, my steering wheel still looks brand new. I've been cleaning and conditioning the wheel w/ Lexol.

I hold the wheel with just my left hand a lot (around 9/10 o'clock) because my hand's often on the shifter, so it's showing a little wear around there

true, but you have much more control over the car with your hands higher up on the wheel... taking fast, hard turns with the shuffle method instead of crossing over is really hard to do, especially consecutively, such as on winding roads... It's just a matter of personal preference, I guess... You're basically chosing between sacrificing some control over your car, or attempting to prevent additional bodily harm in the result of an accident where airbags deploy

I am having the same problem. I keep my hand at the 9:00 position and the leather is wearing. The other place it is wearing is around the bottom of the top of the wheel. I never drive with my hand up there except when turning. I condition the leather regularly. I have an appointment on Wed to get it looked at by the dealer.

Any pointers to help me get this issue resolved?

Don't know any driving instructors/race car drivers that advocate the use of one hand spirited driving. It's pretty much a common fact that best driving position is at the 10 & 3:00 position with thumbs on top.

Me, I usually drive with my left hand in the 6:00 position unless of course I'm in the twisties and you can bet they will be ant 10 and 3.
