Any of you guys' TLs hiss?
So I noticed a long time ago, a year or so, that my friend's 05 5AT hisses when pressing the accelerator. I asked him why and he said it was like that from the factory. Mine never did that until like a month ago. Doesnt happen all the time, but most of it. It makes a distinctive "SSSSSS" sound when I press the gas and I can tell it's coming from the front engine area. Anyone know what's going on?

Does it kinda sound like a higher pitched whine, somewhat of like a rushing of air or the sound of a supercharger whine, just muffled and a constant tone? If so, I have this to. I asked the dealer about this and he said it was a bearing in the transmission or something or the sort, and all TL's do this after some time. He said it is normal wear and tear and should not affect the car at all. I do note that this only happens when the gas pedal is pushed at a moderate amount, but not when pressed lightly nor when pushed to the floor.

I just had mine fixed...
I have this annoying chirping sound coming from the front of the engine. I suspect it is the timing belt tensioner but I'm not sure. The dealer already replaced the serpentine belt tensioner thinking it was the bearing...no dice.
It occurs only between idle and 1,600 rpm. You can really hear it when the sound bounces off a wall or another car. At the drive-up ATM it's embarrassing.
Anybody else experience this? I also had the dealer check the axle shaft heat shield and cats.
The car has 20k on it and so far the TL has been in the shop for various items that you do not expect from a $35,000 car.

If this is your problem...here is the fix. Had it done tonight (10/16/2007) at my Acura dealer under warranty.
14550-RCA-A01......TIMING BELT IDLER
14510-RCA-A01...... ADJUSTER
19200-RDM-A02..... WATER PUMP
38920-RCA-A03...... BELT COMPRESSOR
14400-RCA-A01...... TIMING BELT
0L999-9011A...........ENGINE COOLANT TYPE-2
14520-RCA-A01.......TENSIONER
53701-SDA-A01.......TANK
The timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys were damaged on my engine. I got to see them after they pulled the parts. The seal was ruptured on the hydraulic tensioner. The idler pulley was scored and discolored and the bearing wasn't spinning freely.
The rest of the parts were replaced because they were already inside the front of the engine. I believe the water pump always gets replaced when they do the timing belt.
BTW the dealer is NOT surprised and says this is very common on the 3.2L engines.
So far the noise is gone.
