Apparently Sunoco is "in the process" of replacing Ultra 94 with Ultra 93...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunoco

"Sunoco is the only major gasoline retailer to sell four grades of gasoline in the U.S.: Regular (87), Plus (89), Premium (91), and ULTRA 93. (Sun is currently in the process of removing 94 from the stations and making it ULTRA 93 instead)..."

Let the pinging continue...

Well, if anyone complains that their TL pings on Ultra, then there's a problem!

It shouldn't "ping" on any fuel that has a true octane rating of 91 or above.

It most certainly shouldn't EVER "ping" (or even invoke a retarded spark) with 93 octane Shell V-Power. (That's what I'm running exclusively.)

I'd argue that it shouldn't even "ping" on 89 octane, since the ECU/PCM should simply retard the spark once the knock sensors detect the noise.

I'm of the opinion that there's a software glitch somewhere in the ECU/PCM that's preventing the spark from retarding as it should.

I've posted this before, but I have used 91 exclusively in my TL-S, and I have had intermittent ping/knock issues from the beginning.
