Any problems with losing oil?
I changed my oil about about 400 miles ago, when i went to check it today i was a quart low. I put it up on the rack and looked everywhere even removed the exhaust from the manifold to see if there was any oil build up, and everything looked pretty normal. Anyone else have any problem like this?
I hope you counted the number of quarts you put in correctly. If not, too funny!
Anyhow, replace the missing oil and pay attention to the ground on which you park your car to see if you have an oil leak somewhere. Does your TL have black smoke spewing out from the tail pipes?
I hope it's nothing!

i'm guessing that you didn't put enough oil in; after it was changed. for that much oil to be missing after 400 miles, you have to have a noticeable leak. and as TOL8 mentioned; check to see if you have black smoke coming out of your pipes. which in any case your car would have to be burning alot of oil to consume that much i such a short period of time. good luck.
Probably not filled when last changed, so just add teh oil and check later.
Just an FYI-Normally if burning oil, you won't see blue smoke, unless maybe at first start, as the converters take care of that issue. If the converters are shot, or removed, then the blue smoke will be seen.
I know I put the right amount of oil in because i still have the empty bottles laying around my garage. I haven't noticed any smoke from just looking in my mirrors. I think im going to have someone drive behind me for a while to see if its burning oil or not. There are no puddles on my driveway and the tips aren't excessively black, so its still a mystery to me!

That means ur car is not leaking it its burning it ... look at ur exhaust in the mourning if its smoking when u first start it means its ur valve seals if it smokes when u get in the gas its ur rings... How many miles does it have and do u beat on it daily ?
Seems quite odd, especially if you've had the car for a while. Think about it. You just changed the oil and it's now a qt. low in 400 miles?????? What happened after the last oil change? If this was the case, you probably needed to add about 15 qts before the MID alerted you its time for an oil change @ 6000 miles. Something isn't right.
A quart in 400 miles is most unusual. I would expect with that amount of oil being burned, your OX would throw a code. One other thing.
Is your dipstick at full seat when you check the oil? Are you on level ground when doing this? Do you wait 5+ minutes before checking it?

Like i was saying i havent really noticed any smoke when i start it but im curious to see what happens when i really get on the gas. The car has 95k on it and i bought it with 90k. I wouldnt say i beat on it TOO often but come on, with this car its kinda hard not to. Im going to have it looked at by a friend of mine who's an acura technician just to get a second opinion. Worst comes to worse i guess i have a long weekend ahead of me under the hood of my car
UPDATE: I pulled the spark plugs and the back two were pretty black so im assuming that the rings for those two cylinders are spent. Ive spent my entire life working on cars, ive even built an engine for my 73 roadrunner but just from doing minor things to this honda engine, ive learned that the last thing i want to do is start tearing this thing down. Ive talked to alot of mechanics and they all tell me it wouldn't be worth it to do the repair and the only reasonable solution is to sell the car. This is the part where tears started to fall lol, but i was still determined. I changed the oil, took out the synthetic, and replaced it with castrol gtx high mileage in a thicker weight of 10w30. So far ive put about 600 miles on the car and when i checked it today, it was only down a little less than half a quart. So since i love this car so fricken much and couldnt bear to sell it im just going to keep a couple quarts of oil and a funnel in my trunk and check the oil every 3-4 fill ups. Wish me luck!
What about compression in those 2 cyls? This is one of the first ring failures I've heard of in stock form. How many miles do you have on it? Has the engine ever been rebuilt? I would definitely do a thorough check.. If you're close to a timing belt change then it might not be a bad weekend project to buy the timing belt kit & ring set if you have the right tools.
