Another transmission issue
Hi I'm new to this forum but I really need some help
I've read a lot of the treads on here about slipping transmissions bit nothing seems to be close to the issue I'm having, I hope I can get some advise on what my problem may be
Car : 2006 tl 5at 130k
Problem : trans seems to slip intermittently between 2nd 3rd and 4th gear. Between 40 - 60 mph, the speed drops and the rpms seem to spike all rhe way up to about 6k
I checked my transmission fluid and it seems dirty, no burnt smell also no cel's I started doing the 3x3 flush but only did 2 so far, could it be it just needs the last drain and refill? Or could it be somthing else? Really need input on this. It's my daily driver.

Replace your trans external filter.
Inspect/clean the Pressure Solenoids A/B & C's screens for debris.
You need to change 100% of the atf.
1. To purge the torque converter you need to do a series of stop n goes for the last 10 minutes before the 1x3. Do a full stop and excelerate hard enough to raise the front end for 20-30 yards. No need excelerate into second gear. Don't get crazy tho you don't want to do anymore damage.
2. Repeat and rinse until ATF is like new.
You may temporarily use Dexron III or VI.
Good luck.

The best you can do is replace the trans fluid with Redline D4. I had the same problem as you and when I used this fluid I was able to drive the car for a few more months before I began the rebuilt.
From my experience this gave it longevity but ultimately as it is my DD but will need to be replaced/rebuilt.

Well I found the issue today, the trans filter disintegrated and plugged the line up, replaced the filter with a new oem and cleaned the bolt put and it runs like a dream again! Thank you 01acls for the input and pointing me in the right direction!!

If your talking about the external filter, that is the tip of the iceberg. Your transmission has an internal filter and it is most likely almost all clogged up as well. When this completely clogs your line pressure is gone and you have no gears. Your best bet is to start saving up money for a rebuild down the road.
