I have a 2004 6MT TL. Yesterday, while replacing my PS o-ring (thanks to you guys), I tested out how it worked afterwards. I started the car and gave it some gas (all while parked, in neutral). I've heard this noise before (specifically when I shift) and have yet to figure this noise out. The last time I heard it, it was on my way back from a beach trip where I was parked close to the water and thought it may have been some loose sand. Its more of a clunk than anything. I have no hesitation in the engine, no slippage, all my gears are tight and she still purrs nicely. I've never heard the noise while parked before until yesterday, and I can't replicate the problem 9/10ths of the time. It seems more frequent when my AC is on. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!


p.s.- the O-ring worked like a charm.

p.p.s- there isnt any grinding feeling when this noise occurs.

 

Another mysterious "clunk" mine's driving me nuts!

 

Anyone have any thoughts?
