Another Acura, Another Noise Issue (with Video)

Fellas,
I am having issues with my TL like so many others have reported. It is making a sound when accelerating but only happens when the engine is cold (i.e. morning startup, sitting for 2+ hours). Please listen to the video below and let me know what you think. It appears to be coming from the engine on the passenger side. You can hear it right after the awesome humming noise. It is a rattling or so it seems. Thanks in advance!

I believe it is normal. I had this same noise coming from the passenger side when I had my 2000 TL. I took it in and they said it is normal. I drove the car for 180k miles.

check your heatshields to see if they are loose. Also check your motormounts.

Well. She is going to the dealership tomorrow to determine the issue. I hope it is covered under my warranty. I will let you all know what is up.

Looks like it is the heat shield. They are going to charge me $231 for parts + labor. Does that price sound right?

Just reach up there and tweak it a little. (With a prybar) The shield is mounted in the cheesy donut things that loosen up after a years worth of heat cycles. Tweaking the shield will snug the shield up and stop the heat shield noise if thats what it is..and its free!!

Should it be loose? While I was up there, I was trying to adjust it but it wasn't moving.

When its cold it will be sloppy. It will only move left to right. Once it heats up it (and those stupid bushings expand) it will snug up. Hence why the noise goes away!

No sound this morning! It wasn't freezing in ATL but it was in the 50's when I left for work. Hopefully the sound stays away. If so, I am installing my CAI in 2 weeks!
