Alternator whine

My alternator whines. When I unplug it it stops.its not a grinding sound So i doubt it's the bearings. I have replaced the voltage regulator, brush and PS pump. I have no idea what it can be. below is a link to a video of the sound. Any help is welcome.

You have about 72 hours before you are stranded on side of road or at a Dollar General parking lot looking for toilet paper

I agree, replace it. Let us know when that fixes it.

Same problem

I had a similar whine, it would come and go, then the battery dash like cane on a couple days ago, and finally today the car almost stranded me. Over the course of a few minutes dash lights starting coming on, the radio and navigation turned off, the transmission wasn’t shifting properly, etc.

My question is this, is the alternator something I can replace myself? I’m trying to save money as I’m getting rid of the car soon.

Yes, you can replace it yourself if you have the tools. Look up a DIY on youtube.
