Alarm and Key FOB problems

I have a 2008 TL and the alarm has been going off at random times during the day/night. When this happens the keyless entry remote can unlock the doors, but not lock them. When trying to solve this problem I noticed that the rear passenger door indicator was acting funny. Sometimes it would show as open when it was closed, or it would show as the front passenger door open when it was the rear door that was open.

We tried disabling the door sensors, and eventually found that by using some tape to cut off the ground front the front driver door sensor, it would stop the alarm and everything worked well for a day.

So I ordered new door sensors in the hopes that it would be fixed, but it started up again, despite our temporary fix. The car was in the rain last night, other threads have reported water running down the fuse box, but the carpeting and fuse box all feels dry and the channels in the sun roof and around the windshield are clean.

The battery is tested and working fine. Alternators is good.

Any updates on fixes for this problem?

I've googled and saw a few threads on this issue, but none of them seemed to have a specific fix and they were all dated around 2012 or so.

Have you inspected the hood sensor?

Try this out.

Latch the drivers seatbelt in place when you get out of the car or even for the night.
When water leaked onto my "fusebox" I had all sorts of issues one being the alarm going off etc...

Fixed the seal on the windshield and put a fan on the floor board blowing towards the MICU. Never had that issue again.
Ohh yea, I also went the route of replacing a door sensor which didnt fix it.

This is the thread I started with the same issue

Let me add an update to it.

Thanks.

I'll try the seat belt trick.

One area of consistency I've seen discussed was that my car is parked outside on a slight incline, nose down.

How did you discover a seal issue on the windshield? Is there an easy way to examine this? I kind of pulled up on the molding that runs down from the roof to the hood along the windshield, but can't see if there are any gaps in the seal. Or perhaps the molding is not even supposed to move up?

Thanks

I took it off the frame and checked to see if the switch was working right. From the multimeter readings, it looked like things were working right when the sensor was on/off. So we put everything back on.

It was driving me nuts trying to figure out what was causing this electrical issue.
So while standing next to my car and having a beer with my neighbor I saw this

A wet spot on the A pillar.
I remember I had my windshield replaced so I removed that cover and pushed up on the glass and could see it flexing a little bit which it shouldnt have done.
Went back to the shop and they told me other customers have come in with the same problem.
Eventually I pressed them for an answer and they used some sort of new windshield adhesive and I was their guinea pig.
