You will have to bring it in to the dealer most likely, trying to do something may result in them going off, have you had any electrical work done recently? Did the light just turn on randomly? Is it the SRS light or airbag light?

Yeah, I did get electrical work done, but it was my passenger door that got replaced, the side airbag wiring isn't done yet but why would my airbag light show(the one with the person and circle)...wouldn't my "side airbag" light come on instead? You know if it costs at the dealership to get it inspected?

Mine has been on for about a month and im out of warranty by 2 months and 6k miles. The symbol on the dash is of a person sitting with an airbag in their face. It goes solid within 30 seconds of starting the engine or within 6 seconds when the ignition is turned to position 2 and the self checks are run.

Does anyone know if a OBDII tester could pick up the "DTC" codes that re referenced in the service manual? or is it a specialized piece of airbag diagnostic equipment that is needed?

Also, what is the difference between the SRS airbag light and the one im seeing? Or are they one in the same?

The owner's manual explains that the SRS light will activate when just about anything is wrong with the SRS system- front, side, sensors, tensioners.

It sounds like the light is on b/c either an airbag connector was disconnected for work on the pass. side door or the driver side airbags are not connected properly (the "side airbag" light applies only to the passengers' side airbag).

if any part of the srs system is damaged or unplugged the srs light will stay on
if the car had a air bag go off even if the air bag was replaced the srs control unit will need to be replaced because it will have air bag deployment code stored

a weak battery can cause a srs light also because of low system voltage sometimes a false srs control unit failure code can be set

alot of the times its a seat belt buckle which should be coverd under a lifetime warranty

My air bag light came on this evening after been sitting outside in the cold all day. I drove home, like 7 miles and it stayed on. I parked in the garage, turned it off. Then turn the car back on, and it was still on but after 10 seconds it went off.. And stayed off. So I'm a bit confused about that. No work has been done on my car.

Take it to the dealer. I had the same problem of intermittent airbag light on / off. the problem was the seat belt latch. It was replaced for free by the dealer and i have now warranty 2004 tl. Airbags and sealt belts have unlimited warranty.

Well, I kinda thought that might be the problem because actually I never knew what the airbag light looked like. When I saw it from sitting back in my seat, I thought it was the seat belt around a fat man.. haha It looked like a fat man with a seat belt on! haha So I released the seat belt while I was driving and another light came on for that.. That was the skinny guy with the seat belt on. So, I didnt think the seat belt was related to the airbag light. But you are saying the airbag light is related to the seatbelt ? hmm weird

Seat belt tensioner or air bags, according to the owner's manual, pg 26. I believe a few folks have had their seat belt tensioners replaced under warranty...Think there's a thread or two on this subject....

confirm battery voltage

i have a 2001 mdx. my side airbag ligth turn on and off @ the same time my battery was dying every time i went to start car. I replace battery for an Interstate 85 24F. Side airbag stop blinking but my main SRS light turn on. Yet after a few start it also turn off. Both light are now off. My advice is to check voltage level of battery. It seems that the sensors are voltage sensitive. Hope this helps.

Seatbelt

I had this issue turned out to be the seatbelt buckle. There is a little orange/red boot in there. I sprayed some WD40 contact cleaner inside, not the regular one and it went away.

See this video at 10:30 on where to spray . Just need to unscrew part of the seatbelt buckle to get to it.
