Advice On Repairs

05 base 6mt 108k miles. I'm getting a CEL code P2647, possible causes beyond oil level (which is fine) are the vtec oil pressure switch, harness connections are bad, solenoid needs cleaning/replacing, etc. Most common solutions I've found (I've done a TON of research the past 2 weeks) shows 80% of the time replacing the switch fixes the problem. No one has a difinitive answer as to exactly what causes this in honda engines (I know I've posted about this recently I'm just looking for advice on the question below).

My question is, do I take it to a dealership and have them run a full diagnostic and end up spending probably well over $1k to solve the problem, or purchase the switch and have them replace that along with cleaning the vtec solenoid (mechanic said 1.5 hrs labor max) and hope for the best? I'm just really short on cash at the moment with the holidays and don't want to do this myself and fck something up.

Just wondering you guy's opinions. Thanks in advance.

Unless you know something I don't, the switch is a royal PITA to get to. I wouldn't recommend a DIY on this unless one had access to a lift.

But yes, I'd replace the switch and see what happens...

Thanks nfnsquared, that's the route I'll probably go. I've heard from others the DIY would be tough. Thanks for the info.
