My wife was involved in a very low speed impact to the front end last week. She was behind a van in a parking garage when the van decided to slowly back up to get a parking space. There was another car behind her and the van backed into the front end of the car. At first it appeared to only be some hood/grill body damage i.e. nothing major. Later that afternoon the battery indicator light came on and the next morning it died on the street near our house. Collision shop hooked it up to their battery charger, started it and died after 20 seconds, and also "melted" their battery charger. Insurance is taking the stance that the battery/electrical is not a result of the accident and shop says the same after a simple visual inspection no tear apart yet as we are awaiting the insurance approval. Any thoughts as to what might have happened to the battery/electrical in this accident??? It is a 2006 Acura TL with 130K, and no previous electrical issues.
