I’m new to this website, but I just have a question. I have an Acura TL 3.2 base car. I usually drive with VSA off. Today I turned on my car, pulled out of my parking spot, turned vsa off, and then accelerated. Right when the car was about to shift into 3rd gear, the car like revved weirdly and then shifted into 3rd. (Automatic). It’s happened a couple times before, I just don’t know if this is common if you turn vsa on while driving? Or is it an issue I should get checked out. I know I probably explained the issue kinda bad but idk exactly what it is. Right when the car was going to shift into 3rd gear the transmission just did some weird shit and revved up or something or shifted down? This only happens when I turn VSA on while the car is rolling. What are some common things that happen when your transmission starts going out on 07 tls ? Or start having problems.

Sounds like your transmission is slipping. VSA should have nothing to do with that in general. Not sure why you usually drive with no VSA enabled either. There should be very little reason to not leave it enabled for daily driving. The only times I have it disabled on mine is when playing in the snow. Then again, that still isn't much fun in a heavy FWD car.

Have you checked your trans fluid?
- Color?
- Smell?
- Level?
When is the last time the fluid was replaced?

 

First of all don't assume your transmission is going out on a TL, especially the 07-08 years. Do you have any idea when the last trans fluid change or gear pressure switches were done, trans filter? If the trans is going out on an 07 somehow it has been abused which we can't comment to. Do you abuse the car? Be honest. Sounds like you push it, but without maintenance you are doomed lol

 

Just like they all asked if you have done your tranny fluid, if you haven't you NEED to if you want it to last.
Also research transmission pressure switches for 3rd and 4th gears. The 07-08 have two 3rd gear switches. Check acurazine for part numbers and DIY

You should change the fluid every 30-50K miles. I do mines around 30K and i do it 3 times. Drain fill x3
oh and USE OEM FLUIDS!!!!
