Acura TL 2004 transmission RIP

So ofcourse today my 04 TL automatic transmission starts acting up 73k miles. I changed out the pressure switches, transmission fluid etc. My mechanic says a rebuild is recommended with one year warranty. I'm assuming its around $2000 and up. Can anyone chime in from experience? Thanks

Shop around, I had replaced my 02 TL-S transmission back in the day for around $1300 installed. Find a transmission specialist shop in your area, being that you are in NYC you should have excess to a few of them. A transmission shop can also credit you for your core, which helps as it would be no good to you once removed.

Check with your dealer as well, I remember my first transmission for the 02 TL-S was replaced out of warranty and it was deemed "courtesy service". My car had 112k miles on it hence the 100k mile warranty did not apply to it but the dealer set up the service where Acura provided me with a refurbished transmission and all i had to pay was the labor.

Shop around. A local shop may only offer 1yr/12K miles. I've seen a few national brands offering 3 yr/100K or 3 yr/50K warranties, but I doubt you'll find a warranty with unlimited miles...

I'm the second owner, and it has 73k miles, anyone think I might have luck with "goodwill" at Acura. The vehicle was purchased at the dealer, and I've had a few services done at that dealer.

And if you don't mind me asking how much did that come out to?

I think I ended up paying $900 but that also included some other work that was done to the car at the time.
