ABS/VSA/Brake indicators Came On and will not go off

I have had my new TL 2007 for only 3 weeks. Today I went (slowly) over a road that is being worked on and the brakes locked up. The Brake/ABS/VSA lights came on and will not go off even after turning the vehicle off and then starting it up again. Occassionally I hear noise which sounds like things rattling/falling off and some relays or something chattering since this has occurred. The brakes act funny and feel like their locking up when this occurs. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper.

The other bad part is that the closest Acura dealer is 1hr-15 minutes away.... I live in the country.

I 'll let you know the verdict once I make it to the dealer.

Anyone else experienced this?

When you say that "the brakes locked up", do you mean the brakes locked until the car came to a complete stop ? Or, the the brakes locked up just for a split second ? At the time that the brakes locked up, were you lightly appling any brake ? Was your foot on the brake pedal ?

It felt like the wheels locked up when I lightly applied the brakes

If it was loose gravel and you hit the gas pedal- enough to spin a tire- the system causes the brakes to apply to the fast wheel

Other than that- warning lights mean just that
Acura care will pay for the tow- dont drive it with questionable brakes!!!

Gotta agree with 01tl4tl. Time to visit the dealer. The statement below pretty much sums it up. Dealer visit.

The Brake/ABS/VSA lights came on and will not go off even after turning the vehicle off and then starting it up again.

I have a saturday appt with Acura in memphis. I described the problem with the vehicle to him. He had no answer at this time.

The lights continually stay on, but the breaking problem occurs on the first one or two times I lightly tap on the brake when I first start driving. The car stops but you get a grinding feeling/sound. After this the car brakes like normal.

if the dummy lights are on, then you have no abs, no traction cotrol, and no assisted braking. all you have right now i regular brakes. there could be numerous reason why, without the scan tool you are just going to be guessing, so bringing it to the dealership is the only way

The Service Writer should NEVER be expected to know WTF you are describing- their job is to write down 1 line in the computer based on the chapters worth of info you gave them!

Many are not car people- ex techs or even Acura owners

They ARE trained in SALES of repairs- based on what the tech says the codes mean and whatever $129 fooledyou add-on service special they are running this week
REALLY! you will rainex my windows for only.....wowwwwww

Always give a complete description of symptoms -left on a note inside the car for the actual tech who works on it. Thats the only way your words will get to the tech

Make sure they will have a real tech working on saturday- usually only the low man and oil changer get the weekend shift
Also confirm they WILL have a loaner for you- calling and dealing directly and only with the Service Manager is the way to go - they can make things happen and ensure the last loaner car doesnt go to someone else on friday ......

While it could be as simple as sensor wire came off or got damaged- it could be much more, and your going to be enjoying that loaner for a few days or a week till you can get back to the dealer.

You can also try Acura Care- included as part of your warranty. see if they wil tow it since major danger with all the brake warning lights on- get that car to the dealer pronto!!!

Took car to dealer on Saturday. They apparently can't figure out the problem. They claimed that they reset the system, but the conditions comes back after the reset. They will have to call into California for technical support. In the meanwhile, I am driving a loaner ('07 RDX w/navi and 5K miles on it). Not bad, except for the big signs on the windows that says "Acura Service Courtesy Car".

Dealer is suppose to be calling in for tech support on Monday.

That's not a problem, that's an advantage.

Whenever I see a car with a "Loaner" sign on it, I give that car the right-away and plenty of space. Because I know it is not thier car... well, you know the rest (similiar story with rental cars).

Mine brakes aren't locking up...yet but the ABS, Brake, and VSA lights just came on. WTF? Bought the car only 3 weeks ago, too.

Owner's manual: 53, 54, 189, 190. Need to have it looked at if they don't go out after restarting car or keep coming on.

So I guess I'll be heading the dealer. Anyone know how much they charge to read the codes, and can anyone here tell me what the codes mean? I just dumped $15,000 for the car, and another $1,500 on stereo. Hate to spend money on repairs with less than 70,000 miles. My last (1st gen TL) went 120,000 before first repair (radiator).

Okay, so not a bad fix. Total was "just" their diagnostic fee of $105.00 (1 hour labor). They said it was a bad ground at the ABS modulator. They fixed it "for free" and just charged me the diagnostic fee. Total was $120.01.
