My Bride's 2004 is about to drive me up a wall.... We replaced the tranny about 18 months ago with about 130k on it and replaced it with a rebuilt unit out of an 05 or 06. She goes to get the oil changed today, and when the tech pulled the trrans dipstick, the fluid was all brown and burnt smelling.... Approximately 30k miles have been run since the swap, and I'm not confident this one will last much longer. They tried to talk her into a fluid change, but I'm not big on doing that once there is an issue since it is my experience that a service after a problem generally magnifies an existing problem.

This may just be an example of somebody trying to tell me something.

 

Sounds to me like you don't have tranny problems at all. Just a guy trying to sell you a fluid change. Did you check the dip stick yourself? At 30k miles, I would say it's probably a good time to do a fluid change anyways. Go buy 4-quarts of Honda DW-1 and get to work.

 

............ That is what I thought... My wife said that the fluid smelled burnt, but I doubt she would know the difference.
