about CEL and sensor defouled

sooo....

i made a thread a few weeks about that I'd throw a CEL everytime i went WOT from a stop...

since then i guess i have not ever pulled her off a stop, until earlier yesterday....(can't believe some old white guy <had to be late 40's or 50ish> is hardcore tailgating and then getting in front of me and braking abruptly and just simply trying to bait me in his G35) .... anyway so at the light i hit it hard, that guy had no chance at all, i dunno, i was expecting a close race and what not since it's a new G35 sedan and all, but i pulled pretty far ahead of it...

for that 40 seconds of very fun driving tho, i finally threw a CEL again...

i know a bunch of you guys have concluded for me that most likely one of my sensor's are off/loose/slightly broken.

so what i want to know is, do you suggest i go and get the extened warranty and THEN bring the car to the dealer? or should i simply just take the car to teh dealer and pay for w/e needs to be replaced (if anything will need to be)

I have the same issue. Thought I cleared it up by re-tightening the coolant lines but apparently it came back.

CEL @ extended WOT through lower gears.

If you find out what it is, post it here.

I pretty sure this is your problem. Print it and take it to the dealer. The codes are false codes and the parameters of the computer need to be reporgrammed.

went to the dealer today, had the CEL codes checked ...nothign.

found out today that my battery was dangerously low tho...and they think that may have been triggerin the CEL OR it may have just reset all the stored codes.

I tested launch WOT later today, and there were no CEL flashes. gonna have to test this out the next few days to make sure.

a dying battery would make sense- at full throttle you are gobbling juice to fire the coils and the fuel injectors that fast-that many times a second and minute.
Get a 2nd opinion at autozone, and buy a battery
but an 04? that things due for a battery on age!!! 3 years normal life- 4 years excellent!

haha i know! and i've been pretty lucky i run my lights all the time even in daylight, and as everyone already knows i'm one of those retards (like stillhere ) that gets 12MPG lol, so you know i'm pulling on that battery hardcore ~

but yea, for those who also have 04's and may be getting that CEL flash on stop to WoT starts, goto Autozone and have your battery tested. My battery was so low, the acura tech guys were amazed i actually made it here without dying on the side of the road. it measured like 10Amps i think? and when they led me to the car so i could see for myself, they couldnt even get it started, had to jump it to get it back in the garage.

Yeah well... the Acura service guys are in the room temp IQ club. Last time I went there they said that my cold start issues were because my tires were filled to 90 PSI... "90" they claim... Are they serious? I check my pressure all the time for optimal fuel economy and safety and always run 34-37 fronts 32-34 rear. Not to mention that their trouble-shooting lead them to claim a completely unrelated "issue" was causing the problem.

But I will look into the battery issue, that might explain it.

at least they charged off the diagnosis time to acura- it may seem unrelated- but it didnt come out of your pocket!!

Get the 2nd opinion from parts store and buy a decent battery- drive it 30 minutes without lights or other load- to charge the battery fully after sitting on the shelf

So an easy way to see if this is the battery would be to go WOT with the radio / nav / lights / AC / fans / seat heaters / interior lights etc on and see if the CEL comes on sooner?

I mean battery makes sense because it started after I installed the UD pully... So the alternator is definitely running slower.
