86K Miles CPO, 2005 TL, Vibration when idle

Hi everyone, about a month ago I noticed that my car start to vibrate a bit extra hard when idle. Few days ago took it to dealer and was told that probably it need a valve adjustment. Was told that it is a part of 105K service and they could do it for me for only $1100. I feel like they are trying to sell me 100k service, any suggestions of what can it be and how much would it cost to repair?

Thanks for your input,

Tell them that vavle adjustments are due at 105K, and you car only has 86k. So your car premauterly needs the valves adjusted and it should be wrote up as a warrnaty issue.

Good point, I asked them about that and the rep said that is not covered by the warranty. Is there a way to find out what exactly is covered under CPO warranty ?

The TL idles rough when cold, so how long have you owned your TL?
BTW, valves for the most part get noisy when they need adjustment so are you hearing valve chatter?

Yeah, no way the dealer is going to cover valve adjustment at 86K. But, it could likely be a bad motor mount. Out-of-spec valve clearances are more likely to cause a misfire and check engine light.

Search more info on bad motor mounts but ignition could also be the source. I replaced a bad coil pack that showed up as shudder at idle.

Also, please provide more description on vibration. Does it only do it in drive or reverse? Does it sound/feel like a misfire? Is it temperature dependent?
