6spd rumble/vibration

Sometimes when I shift into 3rd gear and let the clutch out and give it gas, the whole car will rumble/vibrate for about a sec. It will do it in 4th gear sometimes too but not nearly as often or noticeable. This does not happen all of the time but as soon as it starts it keeps happening often til I let the car sit for a while. I just changed MTF with GM fluid 2 weeks ago.

is the clutch slipping? Tends to happen in the higher gears when there's more load on the engine.

I'm no expert on transmissions but from what I read I don't think that my clutch is slipping. I could be wrong though lol

shift a little early into 3rd or 4th and floor it. If your RPMs go wild and you dont go anywhere, your clutch is toast.

the clutch material is very similar to brake pad material. If it's too hot it may slip more than when it's cold (a good clutch wont do this even if it's too hot--it shouldnt really get to that point in the first place).

That's my only explanation as to why when you let it sit it stops happening. Clutch might be on its last leg.

I tried this today and my RPMs seem to go up normally as well as the speed.

hm weird. Your guess is as good as mine.

how well would you say you drive your car as in terms of clutch operation, smoothness, etc?

Since the problem only occurs during initial engagement i either think its slipping or perhaps the flywheel is glazed from heat, causing problems with engagement.

I drive well I'd say. Not EVERY shift is perfect but what can I say. I've been driving this car for about 40k miles and haven't had problems with the trans before. I'm at 131k now and I believe it's still on the original clutch.

But yeah, I haven't seen symptoms of the clutch slipping. I know nothing about flywheels lol. Thanks for your help ezRa!

Mine does not slip but "shivers" or "shudders" when I shift too fast. My technician says it could be a warped friction plate. Anyways - have to replace clutch!. Changing the flywheel is up to u..thats the big $$$. I may get mine replaced (clutch set and flywheel) Dealer quoted 2950 . but my mechanic friend says he can get it done for 1/3rd the price
