6MT and RPM drops when shifting
First I apologize if there is a thread about it; however, I wasn’t even sure how to properly search for it and could not find anything related to my problem.
I am guessing that all 6MT owners know that manual TL (not sure about automatic, but that principle wound not probably apply in the first play) will keep RPM in the same place for like a second when shifting (almost seems like the RPM bumps up by a fraction) which makes driving and shifting much nicer.
Lately I noticed that I have been having problems shifting smoother (however, not always) so I started paying attention to RPM more than typically I would. What I noticed is that during shifting, the RPM would drops like a rock and this would continue for several minutes and then correct itself and back and forth. My usual home-work drive is 10 miles (about 20 minutes) and sometimes I have this problem my whole drive, sometimes, not at all.
Has anyone experience this? How can this problem be better described? Any there any known fixes for this? I appreciate any help and information.

Now that it's summer, do you happen to be running your air conditioning too?
As the compressor cycles on and off, your engine is being put under different loads several times a minute. This can cause the RPMs to drop fast one moment, and then 30 seconds later act normally. A/C also decreases throttle response as far as I can tell. You can test my theory by sitting at idle and neutral. Rev the engine w/o A/C and you'll notice your RPMs drop normally. With A/C, they drop noticeably faster, enough to change the drivability of the car imo.
This is normal behavior. Shift faster with the a/c on or give it some gas to keep the RPMs up is my recommendation.

The RPM's drop fairly rapidly in my TL between shifts. It's nice when the cars cold and it holds RPM's better, but when it warms up the RPM's drop fairly rapidly. I never really noticed a big difference A/C on or off.
It kind of forces you to shift fairly fast all the time.
