6MT Clutch Pedal Wear

I've had my 6MT since January 2004. It has approx 31k miles on it now.

I noticed the other day that the lower left corner of my clutch pedal has worn away and bare metal is showing.

Has this happened to anyone else? I drive through a decent amount of traffic each morning to work, but otherwise I deliberately go light on the clutch. Would something like this be covered under warranty, or is it regular w&t?

Thanks

Damn! You're not wearing baseball cleats driving the car are you??

I think one could argue for "excessive wear" and get it replaced under warranty.

I would find out how much those rubber covers cost and decide which way to proceed.

$3 at autozone. just go get one and save urself some gas. it could be the way u let off the clutch (like pressure on one corner or something)

like tt said, could just be the way you let your foot off the clutch...I have about 27K and no issues. I drive through rush hour traffic in downtown Atlanta twice a day and don't have the issue with mine.

I'm gonna say your 1yr/12k wearable items term of the warranty is long past up and you can just buy a new rubber and pop it on the pedal. You probably just contact that part of the pedal when actuating it and all the wear is concentrated in one are.

Sounds like maybe you have a tendency to rest your left foot on the pedal while in traffic. DON'T DO THIS.. ANYTIME. It can damage your release bearing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm not resting my foot on the pedal, but rather am sliding it off after I lift off the pedal. I'll just order a new rubber cover from my Acura parts guy.

Good for you. You'd be surprised at how many people do that.

that's what i suspected (i am pretty much the same way ). autozone, pepboy or what not have cheaper replacement that's just as good if not better (used them before). $3~4 that's it. if you insist on Acura parts, let us know how much for references. Thanks.
