6 SP/MT question
New forum member and new Acura owner! Giggidy! I've got a 2006 TL, 6 sp/ MT, Navi., 108000 mi.
I'm a "know enough to be dangerous" mechanic so any help will be greatly appreciated. The question I have is there seems to be a little play in the shifter and I would like to see if there's any way to "tighten" it up a bit. Also, the shifter "clicks" when you shift into and out of a gear. It's nothing major, just noticable. Any insight?
Thanks in advance!

Congratulations first of all... I have a 2004 Tl with a 6 spd and navi too... Great to be the dangerous type of mechanic... You can't really disappoint yourself at this stage if you mess something up... Gets worse when you know a lot and see where you messed up!
Some play in the shifter is natural. If you want to tighten it up you could just replace the shifter bushing. That lies under the hood and you can find more about it in this thread.

You don't have to buy just that brand but it gives you an idea of what causes the mushiness... Also prolonged use could lead to that...
The clicking is the best sound in the world and is just crispness... You should be worried if it doesn't click lol...
You planning on doing anything with the car??

When you say the shifter clicks, are you saying that the shifter makes a noise like a joystick?
I have the same problem. I thought the only way to fix it is to take the console apart and get a new shifter assembly.
