5w-30 v. 5w-20

I'm replacing my oil with Mobil 1 Extended 5w-30 (they didn't have any 20). I'm assuming that is ok, and maybe even a bit better as the added thickness might protect the engine a bit more.

Thoughts?

Also, this oil says it last 10K-15K miles (I'm ussing the the M1 Extended Life filter as well). Was wondering if that is accurate and should I just base my next oil change not on the computere but on the odometer and change around another 10K miles?

One other thing. Car just flipped to 10K, apart from changing the air filter (which I'm doing today as well), is there anything else I need to do?

Cheers, and much thanks in advance!!!

Acura Owner Link maintaince FAQ section states that you are allowed to use extended life or synthetic oil, but you are still REQUIRED to change the oil as often as the MID indicates. Even with 10k mile oil, if you change every 10k contrary to the MID and you need warranty service on the engine, they can deny the service. Just go by the MID for determining what needs to be done to the car and when. Seriously.
