Hi guys i have been on this site for a while have never posted untill now, I have a 2008 tl type s and i have read about the 3rd gear issue which I had, i finally decided today to change the fluid to GSM and had it done at a local oil changer place i watch them drain and refill the fuild and it all seemed fine untill i went to drive i could not shift into 5th gear and reverse all other gears work fine, when i drive I can shift into 5th now but I still cant go into reverse, can anyone explain this to me or give me any ideas of what might have gone wrong.

its a 2008 type s 55oooo miles on it beside always having the 3rd gear issue i have not have any other issues untill today.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I've never looked at the TL's 6mt but I've seen shops hit the linkage and mess it up during a drain and fill.

What happens when you try and hit 5th and reverse with the engine off?

 

It wont shift into 5th or reverse at all

 

if i drive the car it will shift into 5th but not nto reverse

 

With the engine off, that rules out any clutch or fluid issues. I would have to go with linkage.

 

Sorry for my ignorance but how do i get that fixed.
